Introducing…Circle One

CIRCLE ONE is the record label of BLUE MOON RADIO.

Circle One provides equitable and expansive opportunities exclusively to Detroit Area purveyors of sound. The label offers an honest and transparent full process experience of releasing a physical piece of music into the world.

The Ethos of the label is to focus on Detroit-based music within the lineage of the AACM’s root idea of “Great Black Music” (being that all music is connected and of the same, singular sound) and the radio’s commitment to Anima Mundi (the concept of the World Soul.)

Genres, as we know them in Western society, do little to honor the boundlessness of sonics as inter-woven strands of information and truths. They exist as a tools to sell reliable music products. Therefore, in alignment with our values, we will not subscribe to the idea of a record label exclusively as a marketing tool. We instead believe in music’s potential to serenade to the soul and the music label’s capacity to remind us of the connections that music conjures to the world around us. We will create the conditions for Detroiters to make confident and realized music by making space for real-world music in all of its forms.
